This painting describes a perfect day. A beautiful serene place to escape, with calm, cool waters on a still summer’s afternoon. Such a quiet meditative space, to calm the soul and re-energise.

Longing
This is one of my favourite paintings of all time, imagining the most gorgeous riverside with disappearing hills in the background. It tries to describe drifting light illuminating the scene. I imagine a lazy picnic here, snoozing in the afternoon to the sound of birdsong.

Pool
This painting represents the beginning of a shift. Whilst still obsessed with light and water, there is a lot of texture creeping into the works with more and more layering of glazes to build up the surface. To me it conjures up a sense of dawn breaking, with cool light drifting into a still pool.
